Discover the world’s largest urban rainforest, Tijuca park, by bike. Ride through the dense tropical jungle on high-quality bikes, and enjoy amazing views along the way. A protected national park since 1961 and located in a mountainous region, the park offers the opportunity to see Rio from a completely different angle.
This well-kept park, spanning a region of 32 square kilometers, is home to hundreds of species of plants and wildlife, some threatened by extinction, but found exclusively in this Atlantic rainforest. After your pick up at the meeting point, you’ll be taken to Vista Chinesa, located in the middle of the forest, a place with breathtaking views of Rio de Janeiro. As a warm-up, the cycling begins with a climb to Emperor’s Table, a picnic spot of the royal Brazilian family in the second half of the 19th century.
Then the tour continues with a beautiful descent to Alto da Boa Vista. Riding through the rainforest you’ll be passing by the Cascatinha Waterfall, the Visitor Center and, on the way back, Açude da Solidão, a lake with gardens.
The last stretch of the tour, after leaving the park, will take you through the Botanical Garden neighborhood, continuing along the lake, Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, and follow the bike path all the way to the beaches of Ipanema and Leblon. The tour finishes at the so-called Mirante do Leblon, a place with great views over Leblon and Ipanema beach, where there is a possibility to get a fresh coconut water.
