Rainforest Bike Tour
Ride on a mountainbike through the beautiful Floresta Tijuca. Enjoy the great views over Rio and watch the monkeys jumping over you.
The tour will start at our meeting point in the neighborhood Gavéa and from there we will go up to the Vista Chinesa, a location in the Tijuca Forest. First thing is to enjoy the amazing views of the city from the Vista Chinesa, but then the pedaling begins. It’s a light climb of more or less on kilometer to the so-called Emperor’s Table.
Our charming support car, a beautiful VW Kombi, will follow us everywhere during the tour. On our way to Alto da Boa Vista there is a easy and beautiful descent of around five kilometers. Then it is time to really enter the Floresta Tijuca, meanwhile visiting the Cascatinha Taunay, Visitor Center and, on our way back, Açude da Solidão.
The route then continues along the same way as we came, only we will have to go up now. It’s a climb of around four kilometers that will take us to the Emperor’s Table. It can be a challenge for some, but it’s around a half hour of easy pedaling. The climb is not continuous, so there is time to get your breath on various flat parts or even small descents. Once back up at the top of the hill, we begin with an electrifying descent from the Chinese View to the Botanical Garden. It’s almost six kilometers of very steep descent, but through one of the most beautiful areas of Rio de Janeiro that was a part of the Olympic Cycling Circuit.
Once we finish the descent we pass the Botanical Garden and follow the bike path along the Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas. Then we get to the beaches of Ipanema and Leblon to finish the ride with a coconut water at a lookout with of view of the Christ, Leblon and Ipanema
